Much for which to be thankful

Thanksgiving provides a pause in our busy lives.

In a world when a simple thank-you is often forgotten, there are many I have as we approach the sentimental holiday of Thanksgiving this week. I love Thanksgiving, and it’s not just because of the food—I love it because it provides a pause in our ever-so-busy lives before the Christmas rush escalates, and gives us a chance to say thanks.
Here at The Imperial Republican, this week is extra stressful because we print a full day early so our local readers get their newspaper on time or as close to it as possible. I’m thankful for my fellow employees who always step up to get the paper out a day early, even as they are, like you, preparing for family Thanksgiving dinners.
I’m thankful for my family, and the newest addition to it—a new grandson born Monday, and those other four grandchildren who add so much to our lives—all you other grandparents know what I mean.
I’m thankful for our community, which is always there for those in need. Please read the story in this week’s issue on the Giving Tree projects underway to help our local residents. What a great example!
And check out the cartoon to the right. I’m definitely thankful, too, for the end of the midterms. Hopefully our politicians let us have a little peace beyond Thanksgiving before the 2024 campaigns ramp up.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
