Todd Burpo speaks to a crowd in Fargo, N. D., in July 2014, shortly after the release of the “Heaven is for Real” movie. Schedules may get very busy again for the family with a potential TV series in the future, a reason the family will move this summer. (Courtesy photo)

TV series may be next ‘real’ event for Burpo family

Todd Burpo said his family has more questions than answers right now. But as the headline read in the “Speaking of Faith” column he penned for the Jan. 26 Imperial Republican issue,  “If God is calling—you should listen.” They are listening, he said.
The prospect for a potential television series, arising from  Burpo’s best-selling book “Heaven is for Real,” is why God is moving them this summer, he said this week. He said for the next few years anyway, he doesn’t expect to be in a pastoral role as he is now as pastor of Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial.
He has signed a contract with Sony Pictures for a potential TV series, and if that progresses, Burpo’s role will change. “I feel that’s why God is moving me,” he said. “I can see his hand in this.”
