New option added to trash service

The City of Imperial is thrilled to announce the expansion of our automatic, every-week trash collection service and to open it to customers not previously grandfathered into the program. This expansion is a direct response to our community’s valuable feedback and our commitment to providing convenient and efficient waste management services.
All Imperial residents will now have the option to sign up for automatic, every-week trash collection from the City of Imperial. To enroll, simply complete the form at http://tiny.cc/ImperialTrash or contact the City Office. Customers will be enrolled on a first-come-first-served basis, and City crews will replace your current City-provided toter with a new, blue toter which will be dumped each week. Customers enrolled in the program will have a weekly pickup fee assessed on your monthly utility bill.
For those who do not need trash picked up every week, the current sticker system will remain in place. Please continue purchasing tote stickers and applying them to your toter when you need it dumped.
Regardless of whether you are automatically picked up or use stickers, it is still the customer’s responsibility to make sure your toter is out for collection by 7:30 a.m. on the day of the trash route or the toter will not be collected or will be charged an extra $8.00 for a call back.
We understand that this change may require adjustments for some residents, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation during this transition and as we continue to evolve our trash collection system to be more efficient while fair to all users. We look forward to serving you better with this expanded service.
As always, the Jo A. Leyland Recycling Center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We encourage all residents to actively recycle to help reduce the cost of disposing waste, as well as to help keep our community beautiful while reducing the amount of solid waste entering landfills.
