Draft Horse competition makes CC Fair debut

The clanging of tack and rumble of wheels filled the Allo Area Aug. 16 when the Chase County Fair welcomed teams of draft horses and their owners.
Seven teams competed in a variety of challenges throughout the evening.
Greg Kearns was the winner of the Feed Team Race, where a team stopped at 3 feed stations to pick up and drop off feed.
Jim Bushnell won the Obstacle Race. Teams wove around cones, backed up into stall-sized spaces and went over a “bridge.”
Darrell Hill took first in the Barrel Race. Adelina Warffeli claimed the Log Skid Race, where teams drag logs.
Bushnell was the evening’s overall winner.
Fair board member Traci Space thanked everyone who attended the competition and the Chase County Fair Board for bringing in the event.
With 2023 being the first year of competition at CCF, Space said they hope to see everyone next year for a bigger and better show.
