Adelaide Brophy wins postcard art contest
Adelaide Brophy, a second grader at Chase County Schools, is one of the first place winners in the GFWC Nebraska Federation of Women’s Clubs Children’s Postcard Art contest. She traveled to the Nebraska Guard Museum in Seward on Sunday, March 3 to attend the Fine Arts program where she received a medal, certificate and ribbon. The Champion Jr. Women’s Club sponsored Adelaide’s entry. The winning art will travel across Nebraska in various communities throughout the year and will be featured at community festivals. The contest was started to help students understand and celebrate the Nebraska state song “Beautiful Nebraska” by Jim Fras. Each student was asked to create a postcard size scene based on the lyrics on the song.
