Wrestling season wrap-up yields new record in wins

Head coach Matt Vlasin said he was pleased with the 23-24 wrestling season overall. Taking five boys and two girls to the state tournament and returning with a fifth, third and first place finisher makes for a good year.
Vlasin noted that the injury to Cooper Dillan’s shoulder, a torn labrum, kept him out of a promising season. Also the groin injury that Brextin Moreno was coming back from, most likely kept him from a state appearance.
Zach Tarin had rolled his ankle prior to the district tournament, so that injury might have crept into the back of his mind, causing him to be less aggressive at the state tournament.
The boys team will be losing seven seniors and should gain 4-5 freshman.
Jaret Peterson broke one record and tied another. Peterson now holds the CCS record for most wins with 172. He also tied  Eli Hinojosa with most wins in a season, going 48-0 this year.
