Girls finish second to stacked Sidney team at Ogallala Meet

It’s been a long time since the Lady Longhorns came home from a meet with anything but gold. Sidney is looking to make a serious run for a state title this year in Class B, with a team stuffed with very good sprinters. They were able to edge CCS out of the title by just two and a half points.
The Longhorns were led by wins from Avery Beemer in the pole vault, setting a new personal best of 10’ 6”, a first place finish from Katelyn Stamm in the triple jump, also setting a new personal best of 34’ 6.75” and the 4x400 relay team of Peyton Owens, Avery Beemer, Emily Randall and Riley Rusher, winning with a time of 4:12.26.
There were no times kept in the 4x100 relay due to an error that started the teams from the wrong starting lines. Meet officials gathered all coaches involved and gave the option to re-run the race or just not use the times and all coaches agreed to not run the race again.
Saturday, April 6, the track teams will travel to Cambridge for a 9:00 a.m. MT. start. Other teams attending will be, Arapahoe, Cozad, Dundy County-Stratton, Hershey, Maywood/Hayes Center, McCook, Southern Valley, Wauneta-Palisade and the host, Cambridge.
