Broncos battle at loaded Cambridge meet

Whether it was teams from the RPAC or SPVA conferences, the Don Stine Invite at Cambridge provide high-level competition for the Wauneta-Palisade track teams.
The meet was originally scheduled for Saturday but was moved to Monday due to weather concerns.
Against the top four runners in the Class D 100-meter dash, McKenna Doetker finished eighth.
Four of the Class D top 10 in the 200-meter dash were also on the track. Cheyenne Parrish placed seventh.
Emma Acton placed in both hurdle races, seventh in the 100-meter hurdles and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles. Sawyer Vrbas placed eighth in the 300s.
The 400-meter relay was another tough one for the Broncos, with Class D leaders Dundy County Stratton finishing second to Chase County and WP, Emma Acton, Parrish, Addalyn Einspahr and Doetker, coming in seventh.
DCS and Maywood/Hayes Center also are among the Class D leaders in the 1,600-meter relay. WP, Jewel Holthus, Einspahr, Saviana Carrizales and Parrish, finished sixth in the race.
Dundy County Stratton’s Kennedy Bailey leads Class D discus and is fifth in shot put.  Bailey won both at Cambridge with WP’s Peyton Cox finishing second in the shot put and GraCee Goings taking fifth in discus.
The Broncos doubled up in triple jump with Parrish and Lillian Dinnel placing fourth and fifth, respectively. Dinnel also placed seventh in high jump.
WP placed in the top eight of four boys events.
Aden Acton placed first in high jump to lead the Broncos. Acton is tied for fifth in Class D high jump.
WP also picked up eighth place in the 1,600-meter relay. Team members are Kameran McCrumb, Acton, Trey McCrumb and Ashton Wheeler. Arapahoe, DCS and MHC are each in the Class D top 10 of the relay.
T. McCrumb placed seventh in the triple jump, while Wheeler was eighth in long jump.
Up next
The Broncos will head back to Cambridge Friday for the Medicine Valley Invite.
The RPAC heavy meet will include Arapahoe, Cambridge, MHC, Med. Valley and Southwest, as well as Brady and McCook JV.
Also ahead for WP is the Hitchcock County Invite Wednesday in Trenton.
