Chase County, WP to make a strong showing at State FFA

Fifty-two members from the Chase County FFA chapter will make their way to Lincoln April 3 for the 2024 State FFA Convention. Several teams have qualified to compete at the state level in hopes of earning their place at Nationals in October.
Five CCS seniors have earned their State Degrees.  Those receiving their State Degrees are Kathya Aragon, Sean Heerman, Brooke Schilke, Mason Tyerman and Jecca Yaw.
Senior Mason Tyerman will also be competing for both the State Proficiency and the State Star Awards. Tyerman was eligible to apply based on his Supervised Agricultural Experience program (SAE) – his turf management business. Both awards required Tyerman to submit applications to be judged at the District level. Tyerman was selected to move on to the State level. State Proficiency Awards are given to FFA members who are “becoming established in agricultural career pathways”.  In the Proficiency Awards, Tyerman is one of three in his area of Turf Grass Management. The State Star Award is awarded to an FFA member with an exceptional SAE program. Tyerman is one of nine being judged in the Agribusiness category.
Twenty-six students will represent Wauneta-Palisade at the State FFA Convention. A number of WP teams have qualified for state, as well. senior Trey McCrumb will be receiving his State Degree.
Noah Sandman, Grayden Sutherland, Mandy Sandoval, Kalli Hoskovec, Izabelle Stehno, Emma Acton, Addalyn Einspahr and Britney Barnard will be serving on the Courtesy Corp. Those in the Courtesy Corps help out in multiple ways including greeting competition judges, assisting with registration and guiding foot traffic.
