CCS Speech third at SPVA

With nine performances taking part in finals, the Chase County speech team finished third at the SPVA meet last Wednesday.
SPVA was a fantastic day of speaking for Chase County, Coach Alex Schilke said
Andrew Wiest and George Colton led the way for CCS with championship performances.
Wiest was first in serious, while Colton brought home the entertainment title.
Wiest also picked up team points with a third place finish in humorous.
Jayme Gittlein added another individual third place finish with her persuasive speech.
The oral interpretation of drama team, Colton, Wiest, Kevin Dannatt and Zach Herbert placed third.
Jasmine Johnson gave CCS two team members in entertainment and she went on to place.
Andee Schoenholz and Chloe Colton were sixth in duet.
CCS had two individuals advance to the finals of poetry. Emily Randall placed sixth and Katelyn Stamm was seventh.
Other competitors were Zach Herbert and Kevin Dannatt in informative, Harley Markee in persuasive, and Beau Wiess in extemporaneous
Schilke said the team met its goal of finishing in the top three at the meet.
“We were so excited to achieve it.”
Bridgeport won this year’s team title. Perkins County placed second.
Following CCS was Hershey, Sutherland, North Platte St. Pat’s and Kimball.
This Saturday CCS will travel to the Maxwell Invite.
“Then, we will be gearing up for Districts at Wallace on March 15,” Schilke added.
Also at the C1-6 district will be Bridgeport, Gordon-Rushville, Hershey, Kearney Catholic, Mitchell, Ord and Valentine.
Public performance planned
For those interested in watching the team perform before districts, Schilke said the group is planning a public performance Mar. 12. Team members will perform in the CCS auditorium at 6 p.m.
