CCS seniors graduate at semester; plan for future

Aurora Griebel, Carleigh Lewis and Ella Schoenholz all graduated a semester early from Chase County Schools on Dec. 20.
In order to do this, students have to follow the Early Completion Plan which is CCS policy 5206.
CCS 7-12 Guidance Counselor Jacci Paisley sees the Early Completion Plan as a positive for Chase County Schools.
“For a senior that wants to graduate early, I think it gives them a good opportunity if they have educational goals or entering the workforce if that’s their dream and goal,” said Paisley
Students who are interested must schedule their classes wisely in order to have enough credits to be able to graduate, she noted.
By Feb. 1 of their junior year, they must turn in an application, three letters of recommendation and a plan of action for why they would like to request early completion.
Lastly, the student or their guardian must attend the April school board meeting to see if they are approved.
The early graduates are still given the opportunity to attend the graduation ceremony for the class of 2023 on May 13 if they would like.
Griebel has started college at Mid-Plains Community College in McCook and is majoring in Early Childhood Education.
Schoenholz is working full-time at FV Coop to save up for college and is taking two college classes at MPCC. She plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney this fall with an undecided major.
Lewis is now working full-time at Imperial Auto Renewal.
