Sandra Lee Maris, age 87, of McCook, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023 at the Wauneta Care Center in Wauneta.
Sandy was born March 19, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Harold Lee and Vera Mae (Stuetzer) Bush.  She was one of three siblings who attended school in Detroit, graduating from Detroit High in 1953.
On Aug. 28, 1955 in Detroit, Sandy married the love of her life, Ervin Lee Maris. The couple became parents to nine children. Sandy was a member of McCook Christian Church where she attended Bible study and was a part of Women’s Ministry. She enjoyed crocheting potholders, tending her garden in the summer months and growing flowers. Sandy donated to the local blood bank up until the age of 65 and continued to help with local elections as her health allowed.  Her family was very important to her, as was spending time at the Senior Center where she shared meals and conversations with others and was a friend to many.  
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervin Maris; daughter, Deb (Dan) Petty; son-in-laws, Todd Baker and David Skraback; granddaughters, Dawn Salyer, Amber Hernandez and Heather Schrauth; and a brother, Harold “Hal” (Dory) Bush.
Those left to celebrate her life include her children, Don (Diane) Maris of Eureka, Missouri, Roger (Jennifer) Maris of McCook, Michael (Tanya) Maris of Gering, Marie Baker of McCook, Shirley (Cliff) Riener of Palisade, Karen (Carl) Riemann of McCook, Jane (Jim) Foster of Bartley and Mary Maris of Emporia, Kansas; sister, Sarah Jane (Jim) Hanson of St. Clair Shores, Michigan; brother-in-law, Delbert (Roberta) Maris of McCook, thirty three grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren with four on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Visitation with family present to greet friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023 at McCook Christian Church with Associate Minister, Clark Bates officiating.
Burial will follow in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell.
