Janice Marie Huser, 83, passed away on Jan. 21, 2024, at the Imperial Manor in Imperial, Nebraska.
Janice was born on April 3, 1940, to Louis and Pauline (Rehn) Jones in Trenton. She grew up south of Trenton on the family farm and attended school in Trenton, graduating in the class of 1957.
Shortly after high school Janice met the love of her life, James “Jim” Huser and on Oct. 10, 1959, the couple married at the Methodist Church in Trenton. After the wedding, the couple moved to Wauneta where Jim found work at the Wauneta Roller Mill and Janice found work at Rudy’s Drive-In.
After some years at the drive-in Janice had a couple of different jobs throughout Wauneta until she found her place at the Wauneta Care Center. She enjoyed helping and getting to know numerous residents throughout the years. She was always willing to do anything asked of her and was a tremendous asset to the care center for many years.
Janice was quite the adventurous spirit. Over the years she experienced bungee jumping, parasailing, dog sledding, and she loved roller coasters. She loved going to country music concerts. There wasn’t a day that she didn’t listen to the Oak Ridge Boys, Johnny Cash, Charlie Pride or a similar artist. She even went as far as attending Comstock with her friends.
Janice was fearless and was blessed to have traveled the world. She was baptized for a second time in her life, in Israel she traveled to Oman for three weeks visiting her niece who lives there. She visited Mexico and Hawaii on numerous occasions, went on an Alaskan cruise, had numerous cross country bike rides with Jim and the occasional trip to Sturgis.
Janice also loved animals, especially her dogs. In the springtime you could find her in the garden or teaching her great nieces and nephews how to drive. Once they completed the driving course, the real prize was getting to cruise around town in her Mustang GT Convertible.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Pauline; her husband Jim; sister Shirley; brothers, Thomas and Robert; and her nephews, Kelly Owens and Bobby Jones.
She is survived by her sons, Joel (Heidi) of Grant and Brent (Ronda) of Windsor, Colorado; her grandsons, Preston (Amanda) of Sioux City, South Dakota and Zach (Ashley) of Milliken, Colorado; her sister Bonnie Owens; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, Jan. 26, at 10:30 a.m. (MT) at Wauneta Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Loyd officiating.
Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta in the spring.
