Gary ‘Butch’ Edward Doetker

Gary (Butch) Edward Doetker, 84, longtime resident of rural Wauneta, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at his residence southeast of Wauneta.
Gary was born on Dec. 11, 1939, to John and Lena (Busking) Doetker. As a young boy, he worked on the family farm and attended grade school in the Eden community and later St. Paul’s parochial school. Gary attended high school in Wauneta, graduating with the class of 1957.
He proudly served his country in the Army from 1963 to 1965. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 14, 1965. On May 22, 1966, Gary was united in marriage to Diana Anderson at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wauneta. Farming and ranching were his livelihood and he continued to farm throughout his later years.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Diana; his parents John and Lena Doetker; parents-in-law Andy and Verna Anderson; and his sisters Norma Fortkamp and Donna Doetker.
Gary is survived by his daughter Mindy and husband Kerwin of Culbertson; brother Virgil Doetker of Wauneta; grandchildren Taylor (Chad) Flaig and Dylan Propp of Culbertson; great-grandchildren Jaylee and Jasek Castillo and Nayvie Flaig; and other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 1 p.m. (MT) at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta with Lloyd Bley officiating. In honor of Gary, please attend in your best casual attire.
