Mark Cahow - November 24, 2008

Mark Alan Cahow was born in Superior, Neb., on May 4, 1963 and was the only son of Robert and Mary (Greenlee) Cahow.
When Mark was three the family moved from Hardy, Neb., to the family ranch in Chase County where Mark grew up.
Mark attended Lamar Grade School and then Chase County High School where he graduated in 1981. He then attended college at Chadron State College for two years and then chose to complete his degree in technical drafting and engineering at the Goodland VoTech Campus.
After graduation Mark took a job with Eby Construction in San Antonio, Texas, where he worked on the company’s street and sewer projects. After moving back to Nebraska, Mark spent the next eight years working for the Nebraska Department of Roads in McCook as a junior engineer designing and building roads, bridges and culverts.
In 1994 Mark moved back to the family ranch to assist with its operation.
Mark married Brenda (Ohrmund) May 20, 1995. They have one son, Samuel, who was Mark’s absolute pride and joy.
Mark worked as a tire salesman for the Imperial Frenchman Valley Coop. and then as station manager for the Grant Coop. station over the next 10 years.
At the time of Mark’s death he was working as the maintenance man for the Imperial ALCO store and overseeing projects taking place out at his ranch.
Mark found great joy in spending time with his son and sharing with him his love of music.
Mark was well known in his younger days as a star athlete in football, basketball and track.
He developed a deep faith in and love for God over the last two years and joined the Catholic Church this past Easter when he was baptized and confirmed into the faith.
Mark departed this life Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, after a short and sudden illness at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; and father-in-law, Lyle Ohrmund.
Left to mourn his passing are his father, Robert (Bob) Cahow of Haigler, Neb.; wife, Brenda, and son, Sam, of Imperial, Neb.; mother-in-law, Norma Ohrmund of Imperial, Neb.; sister-in-law and husband, Lisa and Rory Kerchal of Wauneta, Neb., along with his nephews Tyler, Tanner and Tyrel Kerchal, also of Wauneta. Mark also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Rosary was held Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at 7 p.m. (MT) at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Imperial, Neb.
Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at 2 p.m. (MT) at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Imperial with Father Bernard Lorenz officiating.
Organist was Ms. Cathy Howard and soloist was Mr. Ron Moritz.
Casketbearers were Todd Moritz, Bill Sullivan, Jim Tomky, Tony Cochran, Roger Siebrandt and Larry Castle.
Honorary casketbearers were Steve Smith, Bernie Schroder, Joe Anderson and George Hallett.
Interment was at the Crete Ceme­tery in Champion, Neb.
Liewer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
