Richard Taylor - June 05, 2014


Richard George Taylor was born June 18, 1942, in rural Chase County, Neb., to Crandall and Ellen (Gross) Taylor. Richard grew up and attended school in Chase County, graduating from Chase County High School in 1960. He then joined the United States Navy and served from 1961 to 1966.
On Nov. 25, 1968, Richard married Dorothy Lee Brown in Benkelman, Neb. The couple settled on a farm west of Wauneta, Neb., where Richard farmed and he and Dorothy lived until present.
Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing and he especially loved spoiling his grandchildren.
Richard passed away, Friday May 23, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, Colo. He was 71 years of age.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Crandall and Ellen (Gross) Taylor; brothers Charlie Taylor, Gene Taylor and Gary Taylor; sister Marjorie Taylor Jackson and husband Bob Jackson.
Survivors include wife Dorothy of Wauneta; sons Rick Taylor and wife Kim of Wauneta, Neb., Alan Taylor and wife Teresa of Venango, Neb.; three grandchildren Garrett and Colby Taylor and Jessica Taylor; brother-in-law Tom and Margaret Brown of Atwood, Kan.; sisters-in-law Barbara Taylor of Modesto, Calif.; Delpha (Brown) Sis of Atwood, Kan., Alvina (Brown) Gamblin of Oberlin, Kan.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Richard Taylor were held May 30, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Brethren, Enders, Neb., with Dallas Wine officiating. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, Neb.
A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association.
