Raymond Rudolph Schultz was born on Aug. 5, 1918, to Rudolph and Cleyone Marie (Whistler) Schultz near Danbury, Neb. Raymond grew up near Danbury and graduated from Danbury High School in 1937.
On Aug. 9, 1968, Raymond married Bonnie Irene Grantham and the couple settled on a farm east of Imperial. Raymond farmed until retirement when he and Bonnie moved into Imperial.
Raymond’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, bowling and trapshooting. He and Bonnie also enjoyed square dancing.
Raymond passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 29, 2014, at the Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial. He was 95 years of age.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; brother Fredrick Schultz; sisters Alice Stites, Cleo Schultz and Velma Montgomery; and stepdaughter Trudy (Grantham) Gorsuch.
Survivors include wife Bonnie Schultz of Imperial, Neb.; step-son Kelly Grantham and wife Paula Boneing of New Mexico; sisters Freda Wasia of New Braunfels, Texas and Pearl Davis of Antioch, Calif.; three nephews David Schultz and wife Tina of Danbury, Neb., Bruce Wasia of McCook, Neb., Donald Schultz and wife Barb of Stowe, Ohio; three nieces Beverly Probasco and husband Dennis of McCook, Neb., Liana Rich and husband Harry of McCook, Neb., Pam Shepard of McCook, Neb.; six grandchildren Mike Knehans, Gary Knehans, Shelly Knehans, Carl Grantham, Christopher Grantham and Kelly Johnson; seven great-grandchildren Jazzmine Knehans, Michael Knehans, Cody Knehans, Tara Knehans, Caitlin Knehans, Mikaela Knehans and Aubrey Knehans.
Funeral services for Raymond were held May 3 at the United Methodist Church of Imperial, with Pastor Valera Heydenberk officiating.
Pianist was Phyllis Mock and soloist was Arlan Wine.
Casketbearers were Gary Knehans, Cody Knehans, Bruce Wasia, Mike Knehans, Larry Konken and David Schultz.
Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
A memorial has been established to the United Methodist Church of Imperial.
