Dolores Broz Stormberg - October 24, 2013

Dolores Pauline Stormberg passed away Oct. 12, 2013 at the age of 78. She was adopted Jan. 27, 1935, in Lincoln, Neb., by Thomas and Coila Broz.
After graduating from Imperial High School, Dolores completed nursing school at Denver University.
Dolores married Bernard John Stormberg on April 14, 1956, in Orleans, France. She was an extraordinary wife and was dedicated to her husband, Jack and their nine children: Lindy, Gregory, Randall, Matthew, Anthony, James, Christopher, Jennifer and Lisa.
Her love and dedication to her family is her legacy. She was the proud grandmother of 23 and great-grandmother of four. She and Jack were also foster parents to 15 children.
Mom loved to travel and explored the world with her usual zeal, traveling through Rome, Western Europe, Asia and Borneo among other places. She also loved the theatre, literature and music. She was an accomplished pianist, organist, and choir leader at her winter home in Mesa, Ariz. Dolores ensured that her children were able to appreciate all the fine arts and the joy they provided. Now she has the best seat in the house and can explore to her heart’s content.
Throughout her life, our mother was an ardent volunteer with many organizations including St. Vincent DePaul and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate). She spearheaded many fundraising programs for St. Mary’s High School. Dolores was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Philanthropic Educators Organization.
Besides family, nursing was Dolores’ real passion. She worked at Providence Hospital, Medford, Ore., for 54 years and spent several years with the Traveling Nursing Corps. In the late 70s, she even taught a Health & Nursing elective course to young women at Eagle Point High School. According to her peers at Providence, Dolores set the “Gold Standard” for nursing, She was an inspiration to everyone she met and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services for Dolores were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church, Central Point, Ore. A reception followed in the parish hall.
