Douglas Dutton - April 30, 2009

Douglas Dryden Dutton, age 69, of Imperial, Neb., died April 20, 2009 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Doug was born to Renold and Sarah (Bowley) Dutton on Sept. 13, 1939, in Anselmo, Neb. He graduated from Anselmo High School in 1957. After his graduation, he moved to Imperial where his parents were living.
Doug was baptized into the Christian faith on Oct. 25, 1953 at the Christian Church in Broken Bow, Neb.
On Sept. 6, 1964, he married Charon Peterson. To this union were born three daughters, Connie, Kaylene and Lisa. They resided in Ogallala, where Doug had his own construction business. When Charon’s health began to fail, Doug moved his family and his business to Imperial. After Charon’s death Doug went to work for the State of Nebraska so he could be home to raise his daughters and have a more regular schedule.
Doug married Janice Martin on July 14, 1995 in North Platte, Neb. Doug and Janice resided in Imperial until his death. He retired from the State of Nebraska after 25 years of service because of his health.
Doug loved being with his entire family and enjoyed visiting with friends. Doug’s hobbies included construction and making anything he could out of wood. His endless stories and jokes were a favorite of all he knew and met, especially his family. There were times he was so sick but would hide it as he so enjoyed having has family around him. Doug’s faith and his family were so much support for him while he battled his cancer. He knew he was going to a better place and would see his loved ones again in eternal life in Heaven.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Ren and Sarah; wife, Charon and grandparents.
Doug will be sadly missed by his wife, Janice of Imperial; daughters, Connie (Paul) Brown, their children Ashley (Phil) McNeal and Cameron of Pierce, Colo., Kaylene (Kip) Polly, their children Abby and Annie of Wauneta, Neb., Lisa Weidner and her children Chase and Caleb of Lincoln, Neb.; step-children, Rick Martin and sons Joshua and Mark of Nashville, Tenn., Jodi Martin and children Kalan, Blaise and Zaq of North Platte, Neb.; sister, Marlene (Howard) Raymond of Madison, Ala.; brother, Richard (Marilyn) Dutton of Loveland, Colo., Carol McAlhaney of Blair, Neb. and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 24, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Imperial, Neb., with Pastor Kay Alnor officiating.
Pianist was Mr. Don Newman.
Casketbearers were John McAlhaney, Greg Graeve, Bob Raymond, Bruce Raymond, Brad Dutton and Mike Bley.
Honorary casketbearers were his grandchildren.
Interment was at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.
Liewer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
