Jackie Nell Simmons Rowley, 80, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013.
She was born Aug. 21, 1932, in Fort Worth, Texas to Oran and Nellie Simmons.
She was married to George Grover Rowley for 56 years.
Jackie was a dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She and George raised their family together and for years were active members of Tarrant Road Baptist Church. They were married 56 years before his death in 2004.
Jackie was blessed with extraordinary creativity. She was an accomplished seamstress and made wedding dresses for all three of her girls. After her nest was empty, she made porcelain dolls and sewed their clothing by hand. She also enjoyed crocheting, tole painting, flower arranging and oil painting.
She saw beauty in the simplest of things. She collected oil lamps, figurines, miniature sewing machines, coins, antique tools and utensils, stamps and Snow Village houses.
Most of all, Jackie loved her family and hosted many family activities for her extended family. She was especially devoted to her grandchildren and relished the arrival of each great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Grover Rowley; and son, Dr. Steven Edward Rowley.
Survivors include daughters, Kathy Thornbrough and husband, Harold, Jeanie Lindsey and husband, Charlie, and Jenny Lynn Offield and husband, Shorty; daughter-in-law, Judi Rowley; grandchildren: Scott Lindsey, Michael Thornbrough and wife Nicole, Sara Averett and husband Joe, Ryan Rowley and wife Laura, Steven Offield and wife Dahlia, Jonathan Thornbrough and wife Sarah, Christy Rowley, Julie Baur and husband Brian, Regan Rowley Hanson and husband Sean, Amanda Rowley Cooper and husband Brandon; great-grandchildren: Nathan, Clayton, Caleb and Aubrey Thornbrough, Jacob (Jake) and Samantha Lindsey, Adam and Anna Averett, Chloe Cooper, Claire Offield; sister, Peggy Wilson; brother, Ted Simmons and wife, Donna; and sister, Carrol Beams and husband, Ronnie; and many dearly loved in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, in Greenwood Chapel, Fort Worth, Texas, with Rev. Ronald Beams, officiating.
Interment followed at Greenwood Memorial Park.
