Bruce A. Quint - January 04, 2012


Bruce A. Quint, 52, of Valparaiso, Ind., died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012. He was born Aug. 12, 1960 to James and Mary (Streck) Quint in Russell, Kan.
Bruce’s parents moved with a toddler and an infant to Imperial in 1962 where Jim taught math and later served as guidance counselor.
Bruce graduated with the Chase County High School class of 1979. He was an outstanding student, excelling in academics and sports. He served as president of his class both as a junior and senior and will always be a Longhorn. He maintained strong ties with long-time Imperial friends and continued to read his hometown newspaper.
Bruce graduated from West Point Military Academy in West Point, New York in 1983. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel with the U.S. Army, having served in Kuwait and Iraq.
On Nov. 26,1988, he married Donna Gibson who survives. Also surviving him are his daughters, Abigail (Abby), and Lilith (Lily) Quint, ages 20 and 12; his parents of Sun City, Ariz.; two brothers, Chris Quint and partner Dean Yokotake of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and Sid Quint, and wife, Susan, and their three children, Ally, Scott and Mia of Bellevue, Neb.
Bruce experienced success in his career as manager and financial planner with Merrill Lynch in Merrillville, Ind. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Valparaiso where a funeral mass was held Wednesday morning, Oct. 3 with Rev. Jaime Perea officiating.
Entombment was planned at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Bartholomew Funeral Home in Valparaiso was in charge of arrangements and maintains an on-line guestbook at www.bartholomewne whard.com .
