Muriel V. ‘Bud’ Ferebee - April 05, 2012
Muriel V. “Bud” Ferebee passed away March 17, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Neb.
He was born on May 29, 1933, on a farm in Nucholls County, Neb. to Ora V. Ferebee and Ivy May Clements Ferebee.
In 1936 the family moved to a farm southwest of Champion.
Bud graduated from Chase County High School in 1951.
In 1953 he enlisted in the USAF, retiring after 20 years of service in 1973. He flew many missions as a crew chief aircraft mechanic and received many commendations.
On Oct. 4, 1953, he married the love of his life, Mary Lou Cady, at the EUB Church in Champion. They had two children: a son, Douglas and a daughter, Tami.
Bud liked working with his hands. He was a carpenter, plumber, electrician, mechanic and jack of all trades.
His real passion was his yard. He grew many beautiful flowers and enjoyed relaxing on his patio and the view of Champion Lake.
After retiring from the Air Force they made their home in Aurora, Colo. He worked as a retail manager for a chain of hardware stores until 1985 when he and his wife moved back to his hometown of Champion.
In 2009, because of health issues they moved to Kearney, Neb.
He is survived by his wife; son, Doug and wife, Donna, of Champion; daughter, Tami and husband, Ron, of Wymore, Neb.; a sister, Donnabeth Ferrel of Imperial; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Don and Frank.
He was a member of the VFW and Eagles Club in Imperial.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held at a later date in Imperial.
