Rodney Neil McMinn was born to Clark and Phyllis (Berns) McMinn on Feb. 25, 1960, in Sterling Colo.
Rod attended Wauneta Public Schools, graduating in 1978 at which time he joined the United States Army; serving until 1982.
Rod was united in marriage to Patsy Lee Lucas on Dec. 23, 1991. The couple made Wauneta, Neb. there home and Rod worked at the Wauneta Roller Mill for more than 20 years.
Rod passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, from a work-related accident in Wauneta. He was 51 years of age.
In life he loved eating, playing war and strategy games with family and friends and the Pacific Theatre of Operations for PS1.
Rod is preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude and Eva McMinn and Herman and Martha Berns.
Survivors include parents, Clark and Donna McMinn of Hamlet, Neb. and Phyllis and Carl Osthoff, of Athol, Kan.; wife, Patsy of Wauneta, Neb.; sons, Christopher Baker of North Platte, Neb., Jeremy Baker of Wauneta, Neb., Justin Baker of Wauneta, Neb., Kyle Baker and wife, Raelyn, of Wauneta, Neb.; grandchildren, Gabby Baker, Kylinn Baker, Hailea Baker, Tristin Baker, Ayden Baker and Kirah Baker; brothers, Dan McMinn and wife, Janice, of Kearney, Neb., Ben McMinn of Hamlet, Neb., Kent McMinn and wife, Onista, of Hamlet, Neb., Carl Osthoff of Stockton, Kan.; sisters, Rebecca Jo Weldon and husband, Randy, of Arvada, Colo., Kathleen Boden and husband, John, of Smith Center, Kan., Kristine Osthoff of Wichita, Kan., Kayln Ritter and husband, Paul, of Colby, Kan.
Funeral services for Rod McMinn were held Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, 10:30 a.m. (CT) at the Hamlet Union Church, Hamlet, Neb., with Pastor Kevin McGraw officiating.
Casketbearers were Jeremy Baker, Christopher Baker, Justin Baker, Ethan McMinn, Kyle (McMinn) Baker, Claude McMinn and Boone McMinn.
Military rites were by American Legion Post #304, VFW Post #7996, Wauneta, Neb.; and American Legion Post #318, VFW Post #7028, American Veterans Post #14, Palisade, Neb.
A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
A memorial has been established in Rod’s Memory.
