Harlan Henry Bartels, 86, of Campbell, Neb., died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Grandview Manor Nursing Home in Campbell.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Campbell with the Rev. Ronald Kuehner officiating.
Burial was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Campbell.
He was born Aug. 24, 1925, at Campbell to Emil and Clara (Troester) Bartels.
Survivors include his brothers, Marvin of Campbell and Gerald and his wife, Carol, of Franklin; sister, Leona Greim and her husband, Gilbert, of Imperial; nieces, nephews and their spouses, Janice and Marty Mandt of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Dennis and Barb Bartels of Cheyenne, Wyo., Steven and Debbie Bartels of Franklin, Joyce McDaniel of Brighton, Colo., David and Nancy Bartels of Riverton and Kenneth and Dianne Bartels of Grant; 12 grandnieces and grandnephews; and eight great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
He was baptized Sept. 20, 1925, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Campbell and confessed his Christian faith to his Lord and Savior on June 23, 1940. His confirmation verse was John 10:27-28.
He graduated from the eighth grade at District 31 School southwest of Campbell on June 9, 1939.
He was a lifelong farmer and cattleman in the Campbell area. He was a loving son and brother, always willing to help his brothers and nephews in their farming operations. He was dedicated to taking care of his parents in their aging years.
He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Campbell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mildred Deering; brother-in-law, Chester Deering; sister-in-law, Lenora Bartels; and niece, Carole Deering.
