Mark E. Silvester - December 22, 2012
Mark Silvester, 85, of Schuyler, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at his home in Schuyler.
Mark Edgar Silvester was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Champion, Neb. to Frank Ernest and
Hattie Gertrude (Bevans) Silvester, one of 12 children.
He attended Champion School and then served in the United States Navy, one of seven brothers and sisters to serve at the same time during WWII.
He married Lois Maxine Morgan on Oct. 14, 1949, in McCook, Neb.
Mark worked on several ranches and farms before entering the USDA Meat Inspection work force. He was a Meat
Inspector for 34 years.
After retiring in 1998, he worked for the city of Schuyler managing the
Yard Waste Site.
He loved caring for and riding horses, gardening and taking care of his yard.
Mark is survived by his wife, Lois, of Schuyler; three children: Terry (Deann) Silvester, Mark (Debi) Silvester and Susan (Leon) DeValkenaere, all of Schuyler; five grandsons: Cory (Erica) Silvester, Weseley Kane Silvester, Michael Shane Silvester, Kevin (Karen) DeValkenaere, Mark Edgar Silvester; two sisters; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law; two great granddaughters: Mercedies Cech and Kaydance Cech; great grandson, Nathaniel Cech; extended family: Barb Silvester, Eric Callahan, Ryan Callahan and children Riley “My Buddy” and Riah “My Angel.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, three sisters, three nephews, two nieces and
Visitation was held Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at 3-7 p.m. at Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler.
A private family service will be held.
Committal will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, Neb. with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia society.
