Duward Arnold ‘Duke’ Tropf - November 17, 2011


Duward Arnold “Duke” Tropf of Adrian, Ore. was born Jan. 9, 1925 near Madrid, Neb. and passed away Oct. 7, 2011.
He married Marguiette “Maggie” Heller of Holyoke, Colo. She passed away in 2006.
Duke and Maggie owned Burns Plumbing and Heating from 1958 to 1984.
They would spend winters in Arizona where they would gather many forms of rocks, making many items for their Burns Tourist Shop.
Duke loved to fish and hunt. Two days before he died his son, Arnold, took him fishing, he caught four nearly all 16 inch trout and was the only one to catch anything. That was a dream come true for Duke.
Duke with his brothers, Hank, Arno and Bernie visited the Gordon Tropfs at Champion many times and really enjoyed one time visiting with the late Helen Davison, who had been their Madrid neighbor.
Duke is survived by his son, Arnold E. Tropf of Arizona; granddaughter, Shawna Ray; grandson, Nathan Ritches; great-granddaughter, Savannah; step-daughter, Barbara Choate families and his older brother, Gordon Tropf of Champion.
