Gerhard ‘Jerry’ Langhorst - October 06, 2011


Gerhard (Jerry) C. Langhorst, 84, of Fremont, formerly of Imperial, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at Fremont Area Medical Center. His funeral was held in Fremont on Wednesday, Oct. 5 and he was buried at the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Howells.
He was born Aug. 29, 1927, in rural West Point to Henry and Theresa (Kaup) Langhorst.
He grew up on a farm in the Snyder and Howells area.
He was a graduate of Howells High School.
He farmed in the Snyder and Howells area until 1983.
He worked for Frenchman Valley Coop in Imperial from 1983 to 1993. In 1993 he retired and he and his wife moved to Schuyler. He and his wife moved to Fremont in 2009.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont and Knights of Columbus.
He married Lavina Pieper on Nov. 15, 1949, in Tabor. She survives.
Other survivors include: sons, Jim (and wife, Rita) Langhorst of Jackson, Gary (and wife, Mary) Langhorst of Fremont, Glenn (and wife, Mary) Langhorst of Wisner and Kenny Langhorst (and special friend, Dee) of Omaha; daughter, Kathy Miller of Grand Island; brothers, Robert (and wife, Myra) Langhorst and Norbert (and wife, Shirley) Langhorst, all of Howells, and Larry (and wife, Pat) Langhorst of Liberty, Mo.; sister, Marlene (and husband, Bob) Reiter of Valencia, Calif.; sister-in-law, Mary Langhorst of Bellevue; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
