Norma Wagner Hopkins - July 07, 2011


Norma Ethel (Wagner) Hopkins, daughter of Ernest and Bertha (Kaiser) Wagner, was born Jan. 22, 1935, in Chase County, near Imperial, Neb.
Norma was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial, Neb. She was the sixth of eight children in the Wagner family.
She attended elementary school in a one-room rural schoolhouse and graduated from Chase County High School in Imperial in 1953.
Norma was married to Carl Hopkins in December 1954, at Zion Lutheran Church.
Carl enlisted in the U.S. Navy and Norma followed Carl through his military career. Three children were born to this union: Douglas Carl, Sherri Lynne and Gloria Gail.
Norma enjoyed sewing, gardening and reading. She loved the outdoors and had a deep appreciation of nature. She was an avid Bible student and loved the Lord Jesus.
Norma had been in failing health and was admitted to the Villa Monte Vista Care Home in Poway, Calif., where she passed away on June 3, 2011.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Norman Wagner; and brothers-in-law, Donald Hays, Donald Reed and Ronald Meininger.
She will be always remembered by her loving family: son, Doug; daughter, Sherri and husband, James Shefik; daughter, Gloria and husband, Voltaire Garcia; grandsons, Darrius and Xavier Garcia; her sisters, Dorothy Hays, Evelyn Reed, Agnes and husband, Bill McCurry, Betty and husband, Jack Todd, Laurine Meininger; sister-in-law, Dorthy Wagner,; brother, Arthur and wife, Eleanor Wagner; and many nieces and nephews.
Burial was held June 29, 2011, at the Mount Hope CemeĀ­tery in Imperial, with Pastor David Kahle officiating.
