Phyllis Haberman - June 09, 2011


Hastings resident Phyllis Lee (Kavan) Haberman, 83, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at her home.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Pro-Cathedral in Hastings with Reverend Catherine Scott officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date in Imperial, Neb.
DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are welcome to the American Red Cross.

Phyllis was born Oct. 23, 1927, in Omaha, Neb., to the late Charles and Mabel (Leer) Kavan.
In 1948, she graduated from Immanuel School of Nursing and married Rex S. Haberman (former state Senator), who passed away in 1999. She was a school nurse in Imperial for 19 years, and enjoyed spending time with her family, working on the computer, and quilting.
She is survived by her four children, Mary Lou Haberman, George Haberman, Rex Haberman II, M.D. (Jennifer) and Phillip Haberman, M.D. (Kris); 12 grandchildren, Ben (Holly), Ellen (Paul), Stephen (Amy), Sam (Erica), Annie, Ashley, Maggie, Jack, Holly, Lauren, Mary Soié, and Rex III. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Janet Haberman; and her friend, Joan Nienaber.
