Paul L. Vlasin - January 13, 2011


Paul Lawrence Vlasin was born to Dorothy (Johnson) and Stanley Vlasin on June 7, 1946 in Grant, Neb.
He was baptized into the Catholic faith at Resurrection Church in Elsie, Neb. and grew up on the family farm south of Elsie.
Paul attended school in Madrid, Neb. and graduated with the class of 1964. While in high school he competed in football, basketball and track.
He attended Denver Automotive Institute after high school graduation.
On Aug. 6, 1966 he was married to Lana Nordhausen at Mother of Sorrows Church in Grant, Neb. To this union three children were born.
    Paul felt close to his creator when in the outdoors, hence, his love of hunting and fishing. He loved to work with his hands and rebuilt electric motors for 28 years.
In his down time Paul worked with wood and many of his creations still grace the homes of his loved ones.
Paul passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 8, 2011, at the Perkins County Community Hospital. He was 64 years of age.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley; his father and mother-in-law, Alvin and Ada Nordhausen; and a grandson, Austin Spady. 
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Milner, and husband, Dean, of Imperial, Neb.; wife, Lana, of Paxton Neb.; daughters, Michelle Spady and husband, Mark, of Imperial, Neb., Paula Rosentrater and husband, Mike, of Paxton, Neb.; son, Troy Vlasin and wife, Lisa, of Seward, Neb.; brothers, Neal and wife, Barb, of Madrid, Neb., Mike and wife, Peg, of Wray, Colo.; sisters, Ann Ross and husband, Joe, of Madrid, Neb., Janice Kraus and husband, Chris, of Hyannis, Neb. and Theresa Russell and husband, Dan, of Imperial, Neb.; In-laws, Errol Nordhausen and wife, Patty, of Ogallala, Neb., Clinton Nord­hausen and wife, Nettie, of Imperial, Neb., Nancy Burge and husband, Wayne, of Grant Neb.; 11 grandchildren, Alec, Paige, Nolan, Sophie, Lucy and Olivia Spady, Hannah, Emmit and Eben Rosentrator and Grant and Marti Vlasin; and a host of family and friends.
A Rosary will be recited Friday evening, Jan. 14, 2011, 7 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Imperial.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday morning, Jan. 15, 2011, 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Imperial, with Father Bernard Lorenz officiating.
Interment will follow at the Madrid Cemetery, Madrid, Neb.
Paul’s wishes were for no public visitation.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
