Charlotte “Theone” (Mathews) Draper was born to Harry and Emma (Brady) Mathews on Dec. 16, 1918, in Imperial, Neb.
She was called to eternal rest on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 at the Imperial Manor at the age of 91.
Theone was raised on a farm 4 1/2 miles west of Champion, Neb. She attended nine years of school in Champion. She completed two years of high school graduating from Chase County High School in 1936 and then teaching two terms of rural school.
Theone was married to Norman (Tex) Draper on Aug. 18, 1940. To this union were born two daughters, Sharon and Lana, and one son, Lee.
Chase County was her home having lived here all her life with the exception of a few years spent in Denver, Colo. She worked as a retail clerk at Montgomery Ward in Denver and in Imperial she was employed at Jack & Jill, Colonial Kitchen and as a dispatcher for nine years at the Chase County Sheriff’s office.
Theone was baptized into The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints on Feb. 19, 1958, in Denver, Colo. She was a woman of steadfast faith. Her church community was very dear to her; she enjoyed attending worship services and Bible studies throughout her adult life.
As a couple, Theone and Norman enjoyed fishing and camping with friends.
She enjoyed crotcheting and was always making and giving beautiful blankets to her loved ones.
She took pleasure in hosting and attending card parties with her friends. Even after moving to the Imperial Heights, she was sure to be found playing cards with the other residents. When her grandchildren were younger, she was always willing to entertain them with a game of UNO during their visits.
She volunteered and was involved in activities at the Senior Center. She enjoyed playing Bingo at the Lions Club and watching the parade with her family and friends during the annual Chase County Fair.
Theone was devoted to her family and cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed but we know that Heaven is all the richer for our loss.
