Ila Walcott - January 07, 2009


Ila Pearl (Hiatt) Walcott was born March 26, 1930, to Ned and Mae (Kimble) Hiatt in Champion, Neb. She attended grade school in Champion and completed her education in Imperial, graduating from Chase County High in 1947.
Ila married Robert Evon Walcott on Nov. 21, 1947, in St. Francis, Kan., and the couple settled in Imperial. They resided in Imperial for several years before moving to Wauneta, where Ila began her career as a nurse’s aid. Ila was employed with the Heritage of Wauneta Nursing Home for 35 years.
She was a life long resident of Wauneta until selling her home a year ago and moving to the Pine Grove retirement community in Imperial.
Ila passed away early Wednesday morning, Jan. 7, 2009, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home, Imperial. She was 78 years of age.
Ila was a member of the TOPS and Red Hats Club. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, embroidering and crossword puzzles. Ila loved to play cards with friends and bingo, her favorite.
Survivors include daughter, Pamela Fricke, and husband, Glen, of Ogallala; daughter, Shirley Jones of North Platte; daughter, Carolyn Gerard of Kearney; son, Buck Walcott, and wife, Mary, of Lexington; daughter, Jody Robertus of North Platte; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Pillard, and husband, Clair, of Haxtun, Colo. and June Dudden, and husband, Darrel, of Hillrose, Colo.; brother, Robert Hiatt, and wife, Darlene, of Junction City, Kan.
Ila was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert, in 2004; son, John; grandsons, Joshua Jones and Justin Crisler.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, Jan. 13, 2009, 10 a.m. (MT) at the United Methodist Church of Wauneta with Pastor Judy Dye officiating.
Pianist was Mrs. JoAnn Ward and soloist and guitarist was Mr. Kim Silvester.
Casketbearers were Cory Walcott, Dusty Crisler, Danny Crisler, Glen Fricke, Greg Fricke and Bob Wright.
Interment was at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, at 2 p.m. (MT)
A memorial has been established in Ila’s memory.
