Owen ‘Steve’ Stevens - May 13, 2010

Owen “Steve” Stevens passed away at Bend, Ore. on April 29, after a long journey through Alzheimer’s disease. He was 81.
Mr. Stevens was born Dec. 19, 1928, in Imperial, Neb. to Arthur and Agnes Stevens.
Immediately after graduating from high school, Owen entered military service and was stationed in Korea where he served in the Army ambulance corps. After his honorable discharge, he furthered his education at Doane College in Nebraska and Denver University.
Owen worked at several occupations but particularly loved his long employ by Ciba Pharmaceuticals (now Novartis) where he worked as a field representative. He then worked briefly in real estate before retiring in Sedona, Ariz. He relocated to Wray, Colo. where he lived until 2007 when he moved to Bend, Ore. to be near his son and daughter-in-law.
Owen loved to travel and was a collector of art, old books, tools and pocketknives. He was a skilled “tinkerer” and enjoyed making things in his shop. He will especially be remembered for his infectious sense of humor and love of double meanings in language.
Owen is survived by his wife, Winona “Woody” (nee Showalter); son, Michael and his wife, Tarn; daughter, Patricia Pollard and her husband, Randy; and granddaughters, Shannon and Kara Harris.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
