Donald Jack Priest - December 10, 2009


Donald (Don) Priest was born July 22, 1932, in rural Hayes County, to William Eugene and Marie Bernadine (Kerchal) Priest.
Don passed away on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at Canon City, Colo. at the age of 77.
Don’s primary education was at Wallace, Neb. until the family moved to Hamlet, Neb. where he completed his grade school education.
Don had worked in various jobs and communities in Nebraska and Colorado which included construction with his brothers, Frank and LaVern. He also was certified in refrigeration and air conditioning, working out of his own shop in Denver.
He married Elizabeth Zogg on Feb. 24, 1953 in Julesburg, Colo. Don had four children, Kathryn, Jody, Scott and Dianne.
Don is survived by his daughters, Kathryn Bowman of Denver, Colo., Jody (Mike) Gaudreault of Eustis, Neb., Dianne of Fairbanks, Alaska; granddaughter, Cassondra (Levi) Kvasnicka and great-grandson, Liam of Kearney, Neb.; brother, LaVern (Karen) Priest of Lincoln, NE; sister, Vivian Todd of Imperial; sister-in-law, Marilyn Walker of Ogallala; a special friend, Mary Rollins of Doniphan, Mo.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, son Scott, sisters Clara (Dale) Farmer and Della Buczek and brother Frank Priest.
Memorial services were held at the Hamlet Union Church with Pastor Marshall Erickson officiating.
Don was cremated with inurnment at the Meadow Lawn Ceme­tery, Hamlet, on Dec. 5, 2009.
