Deena L. Strieder - December 25, 2008


Deena L. Strieder, 34, of Kearney died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
She was born March 1, 1974, in McCook to Leiton “Swede” and Debra (Jaeger) anderson.
In November 2002, she married Rodney Strieder in Kearney.
Survivors include her husband; her parents of Kearney; aunts and uncles, Jan Banks and her husband, Don, and Duke Jaeger, all of Imperial, Sheila Johnson and her husband, Barry, of North Platte, Sid Jaeger of Lexington, Carole Chur and her husband, Bob, of Clarence, N.Y., and Ronnie Jaeger of Axtell; and numerous cousins.
She began her education in the McCook Public School system. At age 15, she moved to Kearney, where she continued her education at Kearney High School, graduating in 1992.
After high school, she enrolled at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. In 1999, she earned a nursing degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center at Kearney. After graduating, she accepted employment as a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, remaining in that position until 2005.
She was highly respective as a nurse and numerous people commented that she was always very kind and caring. She was a fun and adventurous person who enjoyed dancing, swimming, traveling and just having fun with her friends. She especially enjoyed her beloved pets—two dogs and three cats. During high school, she was a cheerleader, a competitive swimmer and a member of a synchronized swim team.
She was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, Gabrielle; aunt, Connie Jaeger; and grandparents, Wayne and Ruth Jaeger and Richard and Elsie Anderson.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at First United Metho­dist Church with the Rev. Gary Main officiating.
Burial was at the Kearney Ceme­tery.
Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
