After retirement, Don volunteered his services for 15 years to various activities sponsored by the Cody Senior Center, such as Meals on Wheels, etc. Don also continued his auto mechanic work parttime until his physical endurance forced him to quit laborious work of “operating” on automobiles.
He enjoyed going to the Cody Nursing Home with his love, Velma, to play his guitar with the Travelers for many years. He was a very social man.
He lived in Cody until January 2008 when he joined Velma in the Powell Care Center.
Don was a loving spirit who graciously, with dignity and confidence, negotiated the hurdles of life. He lived in accordance with his belief that life is perfect as it is and that it is our challenge and responsibility to contend with whatever comes one’s way. He loved his Lord and his church.
Don leaves a legacy of wisdom, love, care of family, great work ethic and pride in self, family and professional endeavors. These great attributes will be felt down through the many generations of his family.
