Brad Grantham - August 20, 2009
Brad Douglas Grantham was born on April 9, 1952 in Imperial, Neb. and died on Aug. 9, 2009 at his home in Greeley, Colo. from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease at the age of 57.
Part of his childhood was spent at Cheyenne, Wyo. prior to his parents settling in Greeley, Colo. He attended grade school in Greeley and graduated from Greeley West High School.
Brad joined the Army and spent a portion of his tour in Germany. He lived a period of time in South Dakota before settling in the Greeley area in the 1970’s.
He attended Aims College and became a journeyman and worked for the heating/cooling department before his health caused him an early retirement.
Brad became an ambassador for ALS and spent several weeks in a motorhome on a USA tour to promote awareness and fundraising monies to ALS. His aunt, Janette, spent one of those weeks with him from Greeley, Colo. to Washington, D.C. where the official tour began. His compassion, perseverence and desire to help others was awesome to observe. His sense of humor was a great asset.
Brad’s memorial service was held on Aug. 14, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Northern Colorado Crematory in Greeley, Colo. with Dennis Kemper officiating.
Inurnment will be at a later date.
Leaving to miss him are his parents, Joanne (Leach) and Lyle Grantham of Greeley; his children, Bill Grantham of Greeley and Amber Grantham of Evans; his brother, Roddy (Dee) Grantham of Evans, Tawna (Phil) Cotner and Linda (Val) Martinez of Greeley; other family members including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, one nephew, great nieces, great nephews and an extremely large group of friends locally and on the internet.
