Another Nurse Practitioner will be joining the staff at Chase County Community Hospital and Clinic in January.
Brandi Hanes, APRN, will work two days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting Jan. 6, according to Hospital Administrator Lola Jones.
Initially, she will work Tuesdays in Imperial and Thursdays in Wauneta, but Jones said her days could be expanded later on.
Hanes’ specialty area as a Nurse Practitioner is in family practice, but she is working on post-master’s certification in women’s health.
She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha in 2003, when she moved to Rochester, Minn., to work at the Mayo Clinic. There, she worked in general and vascular surgery, wound care and other patient care areas.
She worked on her advanced studies for the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, or APRN, earning that Master’s Degree in 2007.
Part of her rural clinical rotations, required for her Master’s Degree, was spent in Chase County in 2006 under the supervision of Dr. Jon Richman. She also gained rural experience in Albion, Neb., and Minnesota.
She is a native of Newman Grove, Neb.
Hanes moved to Imperial in November with her husband, Imperial native Jamie Hanes, who has joined the family business as a pharmacist at Adams Drug. He was a 1995 Chase County High School graduate.
The couple has two children, Madelynn, who is almost four, and one-year-old Miles.
Administrator Jones said, “Brandi will be a great fit for us,” and will expand the medical staff at the hospital and clinic to seven.
Hanes will be the second Nurse Practitioner who will be working regular hours at the hospital/clinic, joining Rita Nicholson, APRN, whose specialty is women’s health. Nicholson began working here this fall, and also offers a variety of cosmetic procedures as part of her practice.
Three doctors serve both the hospital and clinic—Drs. Richman, Steve Boyer and Doug Nicholson. Physicians Assistants Jodi Spady and Carol Cornelius are also on staff.
Melda Musick, APRN, is also available to the hospital on an on-call basis for birth and delivery, Jones said.
