In July, nine members of the Frenchman Valley Riders (GWTA Chapter NE-W) rode to Lexington, Ky. to participate in Gold Rush XXII, the Gold Wing Touring Association’s national rally.
Attendees toured Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill, the Woodford Reserve Bourbon Distillery, and attended Old Kentucky Night at the Kentucky Horse Park in addition to participating in numerous other rider events.
Member Lynn Rinehart of Imperial won 2nd place in the Gold Rush Bike Show for custom GL1500 class Hannah Sullivan won the Youngest Two-Up Rider Award and Michelle Sullivan of Wallace sang the Kentucky state song at Opening Ceremonies.
During the first day of the rally, seven regional Family of the Year couples were interviewed, and the Gold Wing Touring Association is proud to announce their selection of Doug, Michelle, Brittni, and Hannah Rose Sullivan of Wallace as GWTA National Family of the Year for 2009-2010.
The Sullivan’s are western Nebraska farmers and place a very high value on family and friendships. Doug and Michelle both have a joy for life that is contagious and their enthusiasm for riding draws people in to share their fun. They also serve as chapter directors for Wauneta’s Frenchman Valley Riders, which received the GWTA Nebraska Chapter of the Year Award during the state’s annual Fall Follies event.
GWTA is a family-oriented, member owned and operated motorcycle association with local chapters in North Platte and Wauneta. GWTA’s motto is “Destination Friendship” and welcomes all types of touring motorcycles.
