Sen. Mark Christensen of Imperial, who represents the 44th District, was scheduled to appear on Fox News Wednesday, July 29 with Sean Hannity.
The program airs locally beginning at 7 p.m. MT.
Christensen said he will be addressing Nebraska’s sovereign rights granted under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
The 10th Amendment, ratified in 1751, states that “the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Christensen said he doesn’t like the direction of the federal government right now.
He alluded to the federally-mandated programs shoved down to states for implementation.
Christensen and Senators Ken Schilz of Ogallala and Tony Fulton of Lincoln have been researching the introduction of a resolution that asserts Nebraska’s sovereignty.
Seven states passed such a resolution this year and it was introduced in 30 others.
By passing a resolution, which would be non-binding on the Legislature, the senators seek to tell the federal government not to continue overstepping its bounds.
