Imperial is hosting one of three qualifying swim meets in the western part of the state this Saturday.
The new pool which opened this year in Imperial helped get the meet here, said Swim Coach and Pool Manager Michelle Wilson.
Warm-ups will start at 7:30 a.m., with first events underway at 8 a.m. The meet should wrap up about 3 p.m.
Because of the meet, the pool will be closed all day, Wilson said.
Seven other teams besides Imperial will be here for the event, involving about 235 swimmers.
In the individual events, swimmers finishing first, second or third will automatically qualifying for the championship meet in Lexington the following week.
The next seven fastest individual times across all three qualifying districts will also qualify, rounding out the 16 per event.
Other qualifying meets will be held in Minden and Oxford.
Wilson noted the Imperial team will be sporting their new swim team suits this Saturday, purchased through a variety of fund-raisers and donations.
Concessions will also be available throughout the day.
The public is invited to come watch the many individual and relay events during the day.
