Four earn trip to Special Olympics spring games PDF Print E-mail

Four Chase County Special Olympics athletes placed at the Regional Special Olympics Bowling tournament in Ogallala Jan. 9, earning them a trip to the Spring Games in Lincoln April 1-3.
Samantha Oxford placed first in the F1 division, individual assisted ramp, with a score of 295. Nathanael Rau placed second in the M02 division, individual bowling, with a 213.
Eddie Lopez placed third in the M05 division in individual bowling with a score of 187.
Ryan Leibhart placed second in the M10 division of individual bowling with a score of 310.
Divisions are based on ability, age and gender.
The bowling competition at the Spring Games will be held at Sun Valley and Parkway Lanes.
According to Sue Gieschen, West Regional Director, “The State Spring Games bring athletes from across the state to participate.”
Gieschen noted that Special Olympics basketball competition will be held at North East and North Star High Schools during the Spring Games in Lincoln.
In addition, there are a number of regional meets this spring for swimming and track and field, followed by the State Summer Games in Omaha.
The state competition will encompass swimming, track and field, volleyball and powerlifting.
