Highline Electric announces capital credits refund PDF Print E-mail

Mark Farnsworth, general manager of Highline Electric Association in Holyoke, Colo., has announced that the Highline Board of Directors approved a capital credits refund of approximately $1,843,220 to the membership.
In addition, Highline retired capital credits in excess of $280,000 to estates in 2015.
“At the November board of directors’ meeting, the board voted to return 67.76 percent of the remaining balance of the 2000 Highline Electric capital credits and 71.22 percent of the remaining balance of the 1994 generation and transmission capital credits,” Farnsworth said.
“This means that if you purchased electricity from Highline Electric in 1994 or 2000, you will receive a check for your portion of Highline Electric’s margins,” he said.
Farnsworth stated that Highline Electric plans to issue the checks in mid-December.
“These refunds are dividends paid to Highline Electric members, as they are the owners of the electric utility,” he added. “This is one of the advantages of doing business with your local cooperative.”
The checks must be cashed before March 15, 2016, or they will be voided.
Highline Electric is a member-owned rural electric cooperative that serves over 10,000 meters in all or part of seven counties in northeastern Colorado and four counties in southwestern Nebraska, including parts of western Chase County. The association is also a partner in Touchstone Energy.
