Students preparing for Christmas concerts PDF Print E-mail
    The December calendar is filled with notations about Christmas concerts at Chase County Schools. The season leads off with a vocal concert for grades K-3 on Dec. 9.
    Dr. J. Gordon Christensen said the concert, which will begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium, will feature traditional Christmas carols and upbeat secular Christmas music.
    Soloists include Brandon Sanchez, Lindsey Mendenhall, Sydnie Stephens, Taylor Jablonski, Kirsten Biesecker, Mauro Bastillos-Vargas and Lauren Prior.
    On Dec. 11 the CCS junior and senior high school bands will perform at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
    The junior high jazz band will perform “Jingle Bells,” “Over the Rainbow,” and “Moon River.” The junior high band will play “Carol of the Bells,” “Santa Meets Sousa,” “A Fireside Christmas” and “Feliz Navidad.”
    The high school band will present “To All a Good Night,” “An Angelic Christmas,” “St. Petersburg March” and “The Bells of Christmas.”
    Simply Jazz will play “Santa Rocks the House,” “Christmas Fantasy For Jazz Band,” “Holiday Joy” and “Joy to the World.”
    On Dec. 15 the fifth and sixth grade bands will perform, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
    The fifth grade band will play Christmas solos, “Jingle Jolly Christmas,” “Santa on the Housetop,” “Power Rock” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
    The sixth grade band will play solos and duets, “A Christmas Treat,” “Frosty the Snowman,” “White Christmas” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
    The 7-12 vocal concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 16. Director Randy Hayes said it’s the first concert of the season for the junior and senior high choirs, the Ninth Street Singers and the junior high show choir.
    The junior high choir will sing patriotic songs, Hayes said, while the senior high choir will perform holiday songs.
    The last concert of the season is the 4-6 grade vocal music concert, under the direction of Dr. J. Gordon Christensen. It begins at 7 p.m on Dec. 18 in the auditorium.
