Teeing it up at the field PDF Print E-mail

Young girls, who are pre-Little League age, can be found Tuesdays and Thursdays at Schroeder Park, where they are learning the basics of the sport of softball, thanks to a number of volunteers and parents. Last Thursday, the focus of the T-ball session was batting. The youngsters worked at the skill, taking turns hitting off the tee. Above left, Gentry Fisher was nothing but concentration as she keeps her eyes on the ball in her session at the plate. Cliff Church, top right, is one of the regular volunteers who is working with the T-ball girls during the twice-a-week sessions. Here, he works with seven-year-old Sydnie Stephens, pointing out the importance of keeping her eyes on the ball. At right, other T-ball participants wait in line for their turn at the hitting tee. The T-ball sessions for both boys and girls will wrap up for the season the end of the month. (Republican photos)
