First official practice for the Chase County Schools cross country team will be Monday, said Coach Carl Zuege.
Due to the start after fair this year, athletes on the Longhorn teams can run in this Saturday morning’s Chase County Fair Run.
Zuege said when Monday arrives, practice will run from 6:30 to 8 a.m. Practice times will be the same for Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 18-19. Runners should meet in the school lobby, he said.
When school starts next Thursday, Aug. 20, practices will start at the normal after school schedule, he said.
Zuege said there will be a junior high cross country team again this season. However, those runners won’t start practicing until school begins.
First meet on the Longhorn schedule for the team is Friday, Sept. 4, in Cambridge.
Chase County will host its home meet  on Thursday, Sept. 10.
