Pee Wee team battles to 14-14 tie when lightning calls game PDF Print E-mail

The rainy and stormy weather Imperial has experienced this month has also played havoc with the baseball and softball schedules in the community. At a Pee Wee baseball game last Wednesday, June 17, at Schroeder Park, Imperial 1 was battling a team from Sutherland.

It was the sixth inning, and the two teams were deadlocked, 14-14, when lightning began to threaten. The game was called with just one inning left to play. The Imperial team, coached by Brad Moline, will be rescheduling the final inning with Sutherland soon to determine the winner. At left, Imperial pitcher Darin Knobbe hurls one to home as the team’s starter, while teammate Kelton Fisher, right, connects for a hit early in the game. Imperial has two Pee Wee teams this summer. Head coach for the other team, Pee Wee 2, is Bob Milner. (Republican photos)
