Eberhardt remains jailed in McCook; bond reduced

Chuck Eberhardt remains in the Red Willow County Jail in McCook a month to the day of his arrest June 2 in Imperial.
At his arraignment in Chase County Court June 18, Eberhardt was officially informed of the Class 3 felony charges filed against him, possession of child pornography.
At the arraignment before Judge Edward Steenburg, Eberhardt’s original $100,000 bond was reduced to $25,000. He can be released by posting 10 percent.
Also at the June 18 arraignment, Joel Burke of Imperial was appointed counsel for the defendant.
A preliminary hearing for Eberhardt was originally set for July 10, but has been moved to July 29.
Eberhardt, 55, was arrested at his home in Imperial by members of the Code Task Force headquartered in North Platte. The Task Force includes officers with the FBI, Nebraska State Patrol and North Platte Police Dept.
He had worked as a Chase County dispatcher since November 1994.
