Since opening the first of May, Bomgaars’ manager says it’s been nothing but busy at the Imperial store.
Since opening their doors May 4, Store Manager Janelle Read said business has been brisk.
“We’ve been very busy. We’re selling well in all departments,” she said.
The store will likely get a little busier this week as Bomgaars celebrates a big Grand Opening at the Imperial store, located at the Highway 6/61 intersection.
While signup for an extensive list of prizes and special sales started Tuesday, the offers and sales continue through Sunday, Read said.
Topping the list of prizes to be given away is a 48-inch Husqvarna yard tractor valued at $1,800.
Nine other Grand Opening prizes include a $1,000 shopping spree, two $250 shopping sprees, a DeWalt five-tool combo kit, a DeWalt 168-piece mechanics tool set, a 22 ton log splitter, a Traeger Lil ‘Tex elite grill, a 15-gallon sprayer with trailer and a pair of Ariat or Rocky brand boots.
People can register all week for the prizes until 3 p.m. Sunday when winners will be drawn. Read said winners do not need to be present.
A special ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Imperial Chamber of Commerce will kick off things today (Thursday) at 8 a.m. The public is invited to come for the event.
Visitors to the store Thursday through Sunday can enjoy a complimentary hot dog lunch each day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Read said they are hoping to serve the meals outdoors, weather-permitting, on the east side of the building.
Imperial’s Grand Opening this week is one of eight Bomgaars is planning Thursday and Friday at eight of their sites that formerly housed ALCO stores in Nebraska, Wyoming and Idaho.
Imperial’s ALCO Store closed the end of January. The store was eventually purchased by Bomgaars, repainted inside and filled with the new store’s inventory.
Including Manager Read and Asst. Manager Nicki Sailors, the Imperial store employs 13 people, half full-time and half part-time.
Inside its 20,000 square foot store, Bomgaars offers a wide range of products including tools, automotive products, paint, hardware, animal feed (recently added pig feed due to requests), farm supplies, some household items, clothing, toys, pet products, hunting equipment and seasonal items.
On the lot outdoors is livestock equipment and lawn and garden products, as well as a greenhouse.
A flyer featuring a number of Grand Opening specials is included in this week’s newspaper.
Special services
Shoppers can sign up for a number of special services Bomgaars offers this week during the Grand Opening or anytime after.
Read noted they offer a 10 percent discount to 4-H members on purchases for any of their 4-H projects. Youths need to ask a store employee for the special 4-H card.
Military personnel always receive a 10 percent discount on their purchases, with ID.
Shoppers can also sign up for “B-mail,” and receive special coupons from the store via their computers.
