With sign up completed, the Imperial Swim Team lists 63 on its roster this summer. Those swimmers began working out May 27 in preparation for the first meet on Saturday in St. Francis, Kan.
Coach Kristi McNair said the majority of the swimmers are between the ages of nine and 12. There is an eight and under competitive age group, as well as a 30 and over competitive age group.
However, McNair said the oldest swimmer on the team is 18, with a few 16-year olds also.
Practices are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There are four regular meets, she said, a relay meet that is a fun one, a qualifying meet and the championship meet in Lexington July 18.
The Imperial meet is June 13.
Kara Meeske is also a coach, and McNair said “quite a few parents are helping out, too.”
